Who Goes There
On a recent private visit to an Alpaca farm in Washington State the owner allowed me to enter the enclosure with the Alpacas to take photos.
The animals gathered around me, curious and yet a bit nervous. Two of them stood slightly apart from the others, staring at me as if to say “Who are you, and what do you want?” One of them folded back her ears and the other stuck hers straight up, and that is the picture I tried to capture. Alpacas are gentle, inquisitive and intelligent animals whose private habits are very clean and orderly. They communicate with each other in soft little moans.
